Sneak Peek: Peanut ~ {Pensacola Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Monday, September 12th, 2011

For those of you who are unfamiliar with my packages, let me give you a quick run-down.

~  The Beagle Package is one hour long

~  The Dalmatian Package is three hours long

~  The Great Dane Package is all day, approximately eight hours long

My most popular session is the Dalmatian, and it’s kind of what I’m known for, because it offers the opportunity to capture a wide variety of locations, not to mention much more time than the Beagle. And I’ll be completely honest: I don’t get to do a Great Dane quite often. But when the right client comes along, who’s willing to spend the day with me and get the most incredible “day in the life”-type of experience, it’s nothing short of magic.

And that’s exactly what happened on Friday! I had the pleasure of spending the day with Peanut, an adorable mini Aussie, and her mom Karyn. We traveled all over Pensacola, and I just don’t think a normal Sneak Peek is enough for this session. So take a minute and see how we spent our Friday together!

First, in the early morning hours when the sun was still gently filtering through the trees, we went to the park near Peanut’s house.

Running around in the grass was fun, but one of Peanut’s favorite things is to climb up on the playground!

That was a little tiring, though, so we stopped for a few beignets at Seville Quarter!

Don’t worry, we didn’t let her eat a whole beignet… but you might notice a few extra white spots on her face!

We had a bit more fun around downtown Pensacola…

And then headed to the studio!

But soon enough, someone got very tired from her exciting morning… look at that sad face!
We didn’t want to subject her to any more pain in the studio, so we took a nap break at home.

Once the nap was done, we headed next door to see if Peanut’s best friend Cooper was home!

And after that, we drove through Pensacola…

And didn’t stop until we made it to the beach!

That’s all I can show you for now (biggest Sneak Peek ever!) but I promise you’ll be seeing much more of Peanut.
Thanks, Karyn, for a fabulous day with your incredibly special little dog. Now… to edit the MOUNTAIN of her images! :)

Sneak Peek: Oslo ~ {Navarre, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

Oslo is a three-year-old Italian greyhound, a sweetheart, and possibly one of the most challenging furry subjects I’ve ever worked with. Don’t get me wrong – we had a blast together, and this was actually my second session with this energetic girl, since she originally came out for a Mini-Session! I was thrilled to hear that her parents wanted even more photos of their only dog, and we finally had the chance to get together again early yesterday morning. But I think her internal thought process must go something like this: “Gotta see what’s over here gotta go over there gotta see what’s that noise wanna go see let’s go run over here gotta go over there!” The girl never stops. And let me tell you, I’ve never worked harder to get a dog’s ears to perk up! Most of the time they were glued to her skull.

Regardless, I think we ended up with some beautiful images from the session! Take a look:

Does the last one look like a little jockey on her back? Because it is! Ha! But you’ll have to wait until her full blog post to see it in action…

Mini-Sessions!

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

It’s that time again – and sadly, it’s the last time. For those of you who aren’t familiar with me, I’m Allison, and I’m married to a wonderful man who happens to be a Naval officer. His training here in Florida is nearly over, and we’ll be reassigned (to who-knows-where) in about a month.

But I just couldn’t leave the area without spending one last day at 3 Dogs & A Chick (the area’s premier pet boutique & bakery) for more Mini-Sessions! They’ve always sold out in the past, and registration opened TODAY. So keep reading for all the details…

Sneak Peek: Skidd ~ {Milton, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Did you know there’s a dog-shrinking machine out there somewhere?

It’s true, and 11-year-old Skidd was perhaps one of its first subjects.

Or at least, that’s what I think. Because although her parents told me that Skidd is a lab mix, she just looks like a miniature labrador (40 lbs). I think the only difference (or evidence of some other mystery breed) is found in her ears – they’re more expressive than any lab’s that I’ve ever met! They seem to float around her face, like somewhere there are little jet streams of air continually pushing them up. It’s pretty darn cute.  You’ll see what I mean in this Sneak Peek…

I can’t resist captioning this one: “HEY MOM! HEY!”

She has the prettiest white eyelashes!

I’m loving the light on her golden coat… thank goodness the rain held off!!

Thanks for a great session, Skidd! I’ll see you & your parents again soon!

If you’d like to see examples of my work, you can visit my portfolio here, or watch this video featuring images from other (similar) park locations:

Unfortunately, this is a one-day-only type of situation. I’ll be leaving the Gulf Coast very soon, and going wherever my husband’s Naval career takes us. But I wanted to visit New Orleans one last time before I have to go – and what better way than to meet a few nice dogs while I’m there?? I hope I get to meet and photograph the furry member(s) of your family – and I promise we’ll have a fabulous time!

MINI FAQ

  1. My dog is crazy. Can you still photograph him/her? Absolutely! I have experience with all types of crazy! I welcome the challenge of a high-energy dog, and I love bringing shy/timid pups out of their shells. It helps that I have a never-ending supply of patience (and treats)! I think you might be surprised at how well your pup can pose for my camera.
  2. I didn’t see any humans in that video. Can I be in some of the photos with my dog? I thought you’d never ask! I love documenting the bond between people and dogs; I think it’s incredibly special. Here’s a gallery featuring pets & their people on my website. So yes, please, I’d like you to jump in on as many (or as few) photos as you want!
  3. How do I see my photos after the session? I’ll post the very best images in a password-protected online gallery as soon as possible after September 10th. You’ll have access to my entire product collection, which includes a DVD of your photos, canvas gallery wraps, custom-designed albums and much more.
  4. Will my dog have a huge ego after the session? Probably. He might prance around your house, just looking for cameras in front of which to strike another pose. It’s a common side-effect.

More questions? Give me a call and I’ll answer them! The best number is 850.255.0903, and email works too: allison@allisonshamrell.com

I’m SO EXCITED to visit New Orleans again – and with my camera + treat bag for the first time! I hope I’ll see you there!!
