Nelson the Labrador! (Newport Beach Pet Photography)

Monday, March 21st, 2016

Today the blog is headed to Newport Beach, California! I’m so excited to introduce you to this big, handsome lab: Nelson!

Nelson is a 115-lb chocolate lab (that’s not a typo, he’s a big guy!) who lives with his family in a gorgeous neighborhood of Newport Beach, and I was thrilled to visit him on a beautiful afternoon for our custom photo session! We had a great time walking around their scenic neighborhood, and I wanted to share a few of his images with you today!

Don’t tell the authorities – we took this photo right next to a “No Dogs on the Grass” sign! But Nelson wasn’t scared; he’s a rebel.

And then we found a small park to play fetch in – but do you happen to see the ball that’s still in Nelson’s brother’s hand in the background? Nelson was adopted as a rescue with a rather unique past, and sometimes he doesn’t know “how to dog” – but you can see that he gives it his best effort anyway! Maybe someday he’ll learn how to really fetch!

Honestly, I’m just a sucker for Nelson’s good looks. This boy is handsome.

And finally, after about 45 minutes of hard work (a.k.a. posing for treats), Nelson let us know that he was tuckered out, so we wrapped up the photo session and let him relax. It was so much fun getting to know his personality for that short time – and I have a feeling he slept well that night!  ;)

Constance, Olive & Rover – San Clemente Pet Photography

Thursday, March 17th, 2016

I had the pleasure of visiting a few wonderful animals for a special San Clemente pet photography session recently! Their names are Constance, Olive and Rover – and guess what, Rover is the cat! Haha!

I met Constance and Olive during last year’s November mini-sessions, and I was downright thrilled to see them again! They’re adorable yellow labs, ridiculously good-natured and so much fun to work with. Constance is the elder sister of the two, much calmer and even-keeled, and simply happy to be with her family as much as possible. She made me work to perk up her ears, but it was worth the effort – she’s a beautiful dog! Olive, on the other hand, is a super-energetic puppy who simply does NOT calm down when she wants to play, haha! I actually really loved seeing her persistent spirit come to life; she never lost faith that we would all want to play with her tug toy on her 15th trip around the living room, haha! Don’t you love how stubbornly optimistic dogs can be? And last but not least, I got to meet Rover this time! He’s a handsome cat who turned out to be quite the ham for my camera… he puts up with his canine sisters, but I could tell that he was loving the spotlight, haha! All together, they make a diverse bunch of lovable animals – I couldn’t get enough of working with them, and having a new & different town to explore during our session was simply icing on the cake!

This is Rover… see what I told you? A total ham!

… and this adorable face belongs to Olive! Despite all her energy, she was quite treat-motivated, which definitely helped me capture her in pretty spots like this!

Okay, one outtake for you… apparently Olive got impatient waiting for me at certain times! She’s so silly!

Vince & Jen, thank you for such a lovely afternoon with all your pets! I’m excited to see you both again soon! :)

Rockwell & Stonewall! (San Diego Cat Photographer)

Tuesday, March 15th, 2016

Today, I have the joy of introducing you to two gorgeous cats! Rockwell & Stonewall, a domestic longhair and a domestic shorthair cat, live with their dad in Santee. They’re fascinating creatures, as all cats are, but these two seem to have extra personality somehow! Stonewall, the grey DSH, is the “dog” of the family: he’s outgoing, playful, and incredibly cheerful! He was quick to snuggle up to me (and my camera bags) and was pretty much a cat photographer’s dream to work with… not to mention, he had an interesting hunter’s instinct too (which I witnessed firsthand when his dad brought out a squeaking toy), and to see that instinct mix with his desire to play and snuggle was simply adorable! Rockwell, on the other hand, is definitely the “cat” of the family – he’s a bit less outgoing (but still a sweetheart!) and made me work a little harder to photograph him. And thanks to an accident with a toy from a few years ago, he saw us playing with Stonewall and decided he’d better hide in his kitty condo! Poor thing! So it took some coaxing to help him come out & open up again, but I’m so glad we did – he’s a beautiful cat and I absolutely loved having him in front of my lens! Both of these cats have a regal aspect to their personalities, but Rockwell simply has the looks to match, too. Such a joy to work with!

This is Stonewall, and one of the first frames I took when I unpacked my camera! Just a little warm-up stretch, haha!

Stonewall’s eyes are the most gorgeous shade of green… combine them with his grey coat, and I can’t get enough of his unique coloring!

This is Rockwell, enjoying a nice brushing/massage from his dad!

I know their dad is excited to see their close-up portraits… and Rockwell definitely doesn’t disappoint. What a handsome guy.

Chris, thank you so much for introducing me to your gorgeous cats! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you again soon! :)

More Photos of Sprinkles the Yellow Lab!

Saturday, March 12th, 2016

A familiar face is on the blog again today! :)

Something unexpected came up last week, and Sprinkles’ mom was unable to come in & see all the photos of her gorgeous girl. I was sad that we’d have to reschedule our appointment… so I figured a second sneak peek was in order! Hopefully this makes the wait seem not-so-long, Delicia!

A rare calm moment for Sprinkles, on Coronado Beach…

This is how Sprinkles spent most of our photo session, haha!

Even as the sun slipped past the horizon, I got the feeling Sprinkles could have kept playing with her mom for hours.

That’s all for now! See you soon, Delicia! :)

Maggie May, the Shepherd Puppy from Escondido!

Friday, March 4th, 2016

I canNOT properly express to you how EXCITED I was for this photo session! I had the pleasure of seeing my wonderful clients again to capture the newest member of their sweet family – Maggie the puppy! Maggie has basically won the puppy lottery… she gets to join this awesome family with two big brothers and two loving parents, and she’s soaking it all up as the center of attention these days! Maggie’s family rescued her from the Humane Society in Escondido just a couple of months ago, and ever since her mom texted me a picture of her sweet little face, I’ve been itching to meet her! (And even better: her parents didn’t pay a dime for this photo session, since they’re in my Clients for Life program! Curious? Contact me and I’ll tell you all about it.) She’s a mixed-breed shepherd puppy of some sort – but honestly, who cares about her breeding with that adorable face?! And although she gets on her brothers’ nerves a little – okay, a lot – she’s going to grow into the most loving, devoted little sister they could ever have, I just know it. (Even if she’s only “little” in age; I think she might end up 20 lbs bigger than either of them!) But I was honored to meet her at the beginning of her life – so here are a few of my favorite images of this spunky little shepherd puppy!

Oh, that smile. And those lopsided ears!

We found a few sticks in the park… which held Maggie’s attention for a record-breaking 5 whole seconds…

She’s painfully cute.

And she loves to run! I think she’ll grow up to be an incredible athlete!

Trisha & Daniel – it was absolutely wonderful to see you again, as usual! I’m looking forward to getting together again soon! :)
