Photos of Mister Mister & Cicero, Two Dogs from Encinitas!

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017

Photo sessions with two dogs instead of one are always an adventure, let me tell you. It’s a challenge to balance two different personalities in one window of time, especially if the dogs are different breeds, temperaments or energy levels. And yet sometimes, the dogs I work with are so bonded as siblings – so close and co-dependent on one another – that they practically seem to have blended their personalities into one shared persona. In those cases, photographing them is a breeze, since they love to snuggle up together and do the exact same things. (It’s kinda funny to witness, to be honest with you!) But Mister Mister and Cicero seem to have had a pow-wow before our photo session and decided on a different course of action. I imagine that conversation went something like this: “We’re total opposites. So let’s make sure Treat Lady knows it.” “Yeah! I’ll bark at her the whole time if you just hang out and act really calm.” “Sounds good! Remember to play fetch while I lounge around on the outdoor furniture with mom.” “Okay! And just for fun I’ll refuse to sit next to you until the very end of the session.” “Perfect!” “Ready, break!”

So that was my photo session with Mister Mister and Cicero! :)

Haha – despite their polar-opposite personalities, we really had a phenomenal time together. We relaxed in the living room & backyard of their (gorgeous!) home in Encinitas, and then took a walk around their neighborhood just as the sun was setting. And in my opinion, these pups have won the doggy lottery: plenty of room to play, all the treats and toys they could want, and awesome parents who absolutely adore them. After I die, can I come back as a dog & be adopted by Mister Mister & Cicero’s parents? :)

This is Mister Mister in his happy place – it’s where he gets his Greenies!

Cicero loves to play fetch – until you throw his ball in the pool. Then he waits for dad to come to the rescue!

Despite not being blood-related at all (Mr. Mr. is a shepherd mix and Cicero is a spaniel/dachshund/Aussie mix), can you believe how similar they look?! They have the same rich warm tones in their fur… it’s almost like they were meant to be brothers!

Misha & Justin, it was so great to see all four of you again! I can’t wait to show you the rest of our images soon! :)

Riley the Goldendoodle Puppy – Part 2!

Tuesday, November 15th, 2016

Do you remember Riley the goldendoodle puppy from last month? Well, I’m thrilled to say that I visited this little girl AGAIN, for the second installment of her photo session! The only thing better than photographing Riley is photographing her twice!  :)

In a month, a lot has changed for this little muppet. She has discovered her teeth, and she chews everything – literally everything, including my camera strap, my camera bag, my hand, her mom’s hands, the grass, the flowers, pieces of tree bark… should I keep going? Exploration via chewing is definitely her favorite thing these days. And she has so much energy, too! You think chewing is a relatively “calm” activity? Riley is finessing her ability to chew while sprinting & jumping at the same time, haha! Our session took place over one extra-long spurt of energy, so we definitely ended up with our fair share of action photos… but for now, I wanted to share a few (fleeting) moments of stillness, because when Riley slows down enough to take a breath, I think she’s simply too cute for words.

What do you know? It’s a puddle of goldendoodle puppy.

I just love her little profile. She’s such a pretty dog! (And she’s either thinking very deep thoughts here, or she’s wondering what she can chew on next…)

And then we found flowers in the neighborhood! Riley was very interested in the new setting, but she still took a moment to pose for me in the gorgeous landscaping (sorry to the gardeners! she wasn’t too destructive, I promise!).

And finally – a moment of peace, at the very end of our session. Whew… I think Riley & I both needed a nap after this, haha!

Deb, thank you so much for inviting me to get to know Riley as she grows! I can’t wait to show you our images very soon! :)

Encinitas Dog Photography with Briley & Gunner!

Friday, July 3rd, 2015

When I scheduled a photo session with Briley & Gunner, a Weimaraner and a German shepherd, I knew I’d be working with plenty of energy, due to their breeds… not to mention the fact that they’re both only about a year old! These pups are high-drive but they also have incredibly impressive obedience training. Of course, sometimes puppyhood wins over their training (especially with Miss Briley!) but overall it was great to work with such focused dogs. And it’s pretty easy to get their focus if you have a tennis ball in your hand, haha!

So for our photo session, we took a stroll around the brand-new Encinitas Community Park (what a pretty spot!) and let the dogs loose to play fetch as well. I had a great time with this fun family, and I’m so thrilled to share our photos with you!

This is the handsome Gunner! He started life as a working dog, but it turns out, he’s much better at being a family pet – so now he lives the good life!

And this gorgeous girl is Briley! Can you believe she’s only ten months old?

And just because I can’t resist sharing one of our many action photos with you, here’s one of Briley… Remember how I said they’re “focused” dogs? She could not be more focused on that ball! :)

And despite the fact that we have several photos of both dogs posing nicely for us, I can’t help but share this silly photo with you! It’s too cute to keep to myself! How adorable are these pups?!

Thanks for a wonderful afternoon, Paula & Chris! I had a great time with all four of you – and I can’t wait to show you the rest of our photos soon! :)
