Bulldogs and boxers and shih tzus – oh my!

Monday, July 9th, 2012

I first met one of these dogs (Mr. Chubbs, in fact) during Mini-Sessions at 3 Dogs & A Chick – see his ridiculously happy, smiling face here on Facebook! So I was absolutely thrilled when his parents, Ashlee & Joseph, invited me back to their house to meet the rest of their pack! As soon as I walked in the door, all SIX dogs converged on me, and it kind of made me feel like I was the victim of a relentless, multi-tier assault. With super-adorable assailants, of course! Let me introduce you to them!

Maggie (left) is actually just as cheerful as Cleatus (right), but she wanted to show off her serious side.

Tink is the eldest of the family at 11, and this shih tzu gets to come to work with Mom & Dad every day at one of the veterinary clinics they own! Lucky dog!

Romy isn’t exactly an “outside dog” but we eventually got her to brave the elements (of the gorgeous sunny day), and she really lit up when the toy pig got involved!

I am so taken aback by how beautiful Desi is that I can’t post just one photo. Look at this sweet, pretty girl!

And last but certainly not least, Mr. Chubbs, enjoying a blissful solo escape to the front yard.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful afternoon, Ashlee & Joseph! I have MANY more photos to show you, including all the ones we took inside the house! I can’t wait – so I’ll see you soon! :)

The Park and the Beach with a Husky Puppy and Boxer/Basset Hound Mix

Monday, April 9th, 2012

I first met Angus (the 4-year-old boxer/basset hound mix) and Denali (the husky puppy) at 3 Dogs & A Chick‘s Easter Egg Hunt just two weeks ago. I pretty much melted when I first saw Denali; I think she’s strikingly beautiful! Those markings – those eyes!! I absolutely couldn’t wait to photograph her, and as it turns out, once I started shooting, Angus was even more of a delight to work with! His soulful, hound face had us laughing the entire session.

Here’s the Sneak Peek of your images, Chae & Jarred! I’ll be in touch soon to figure out when we can get together again. Enjoy!

Bruiser ~ {Pensacola, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Here are more images from my session with Bruiser, the handsome old boxer!

We spent our time in two different backyards for our session, his mother’s and his grandmothers! As luck would have it, they live only a few houses away from each other, and Bruiser pretty much has the run of both places. You can see a bit of the beautiful greenery and scenery (hey, that rhymes!) in the photos from each place. Here’s his video slideshow:

Yep, Bruiser’s pretty much at retirement age, and gets to sit back and relax in these green oases every day. What a nice view.

Sneak Peek: Bruiser ~ {Pensacola, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

“His name’s Bruiser, and he’s a boxer,” my client tells me over the phone. Hmmm, I think, sounds like a tough guy and a high-energy breed.

“When you first get here, he’ll bark at you because he doesn’t know you.” Well, as long as he just barks!

It’s safe to say I was slightly nervous going into this session. Bruiser’s mom, Ann, and I had our pre-shoot consultation over the phone due to our busy schedules. That means the first time I met Bruiser was right there at our shoot.

But as it turns out, I had nothing to worry about! Bruiser is a sweet old guy who has a little bit of trouble getting around, and he’s lucky to have a mom who loves him very, very much. Here is the Sneak Peek of just a few images from our session together! Ann, I’m so excited to show you the rest!

Thanks, Ann! I hope you enjoy these few photos!

Disclaimer: I knew Bruiser wouldn’t be anything to “worry” about. My pre-shoot consultations always cover the important issues, such as physical limitations and psychological triggers. I never go into a shoot without knowing as much as I possibly can about the dog(s), and If your dog has an aggressive temperament and you’d still like to have a session, I have policies which keep us both safe. Not to mention insurance :)
