Sneak Peek: Moose ~ {Pensacola, FL Pet Photographer Allison Shamrell}

Monday, February 28th, 2011

I spent a wonderful afternoon on Saturday with a 34-pound ball of energy: Moose, the border collie-labrador mix! He’s a year and a half, and his parents’ only “child”. You might have seen him around town before: he won a ribbon at the 2010 Splash Dogs competition, and is training (currently a “green dog”) with the Flyball team! Plus, he’s adorable. Who couldn’t love this little guy?

So, without further ado, here’s your sneak peek of Moose! “Readyyyyyy…”

I can’t wait to share the rest of the photos with you! Thanks for a great session, Moose!

And the winner is… ~ {Pensacola, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Congratulations to Daizie!

This cute little girl is a dachshund-Papillon mix, and the winner of my Valentine’s session giveaway contest! I let my Valentine (my husband!) pick the winner among all the entries, and let me tell you, I’m pretty glad he made the decision and not me! I received SO many fantastic submissions- even one Powerpoint presentation! But her owner, Crystal, sent me this photo and wrote a long submission about how much she loves Daizie, and it was too cute to pass up! Here’s a small excerpt:

“We have gone through obedience school and hopefully will be working towards getting her Canine Good Citizen Certification soon.  I think it is great, I have taught her how to sit and stay and also to come when I call her.  I have never felt so much accomplishment in something that I did. […] It was hard sometimes, but we got through it TOGETHER.”

Congratulations, Crystal and Daizie! I’ll be in touch about scheduling your pre-shoot consultation!

Thank you so much to everyone else that entered. I was absolutely blown away by your entries; I may just have to make this a yearly tradition!

Valentine’s Day Contest! ~ {Pensacola, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Allison Shamrell Photography is proud to announce  a Valentine’s Day contest!

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I’m feeling generous and would like to share the love with someone else! Here’s what that means to you: someone is going to win a free session!!  Interested?

Here are the rules to enter:

  1. Email me an explanation of why you love your dog. It can be anywhere from a sentence to a few pages in length, so get creative!
  2. Include a photo you’ve taken of your dog- so I can see who you’re talking about!
  3. Live within 30 miles of Pace, or agree to meet me within that distance for your session. Or pay for my gas to get to you!
  4. Do all this before Valentine’s Day. The deadline is midnight on the 13th!

Here are the prize details:

  1. One photo session with me at absolutely no cost to you! It will last between one and two hours, and I’ll accept maximum two animals.
  2. A $100 print credit to use however you want! You’d normally have to purchase my biggest package to get that kind of a credit…
  3. I’ll even throw in 5 low-resolution images for you to keep, that will be sized perfectly for Facebook, cell phone backgrounds, and other fun things!

If the chance to win all this sounds like it’s worth an email to you, then just send your information to allison@allisonshamrell.com.

Good luck! I can’t wait to read your entry!

Buford & Rio ~ {Pensacola, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Monday, February 7th, 2011

After a very busy weekend, I finally have time to post Buford & Rio’s videos! (If the videos don’t load, just refresh the page.)

I absolutely loved this shoot. It was SO much fun. Lori, their mom, let me get creative, which is something that not all pet owners are usually up for, so I definitely appreciated the freedom. And the backgrounds we casually chose during the shoot became some of her (and my) favorite shots from the entire session! So here’s to working with people who have a similar creative vision to your own- the end result is always amazing.

The first video is from the outdoor shoot, and I posted a few extra pictures from that part of the session for you to see as well. The next video is all studio work, since we took some time there as well. In fact, we took enough time for both dogs to actually fall asleep! We were in the middle of re-creating the photo I took of the (famous) golden retrievers Riley & Zoe, and Buford suddenly shut his eyes- so of course, we waited until Rio did the same! So it’s a little twist on that original photo you might fund amusing. I’ve also posted that photo by itself below.

Here are the photos by themselves. The first two are in front of Seville- it hardly gets more classic Pensacola than that!

Then we went to the steps of the art museum…

And a completely random red wall was our favorite place!

I applied a grainy, old-film-type effect to this one. Do you like it better than the original (above)?

These two old doors were just begging to have two dogs in front of them!

And since all that posing was so exhausting to these poor fellas…

Love it! :)  Zoe & Riley- eat your heart out!

Anyways, I also wanted to include the storyboards I proposed from these images. These are two examples of what to expect when I design storyboards.

Thanks again for a great shoot, Lori- enjoy your storyboards!

Sneak Peek: Buford & Rio! ~ {Pensacola, Florida Pet Photographer Allison Shamrell}

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Buford & Rio’s mom, Lori, contacted me after seeing the video I made of Cinder the Chihuahua, which you can find here. She wanted the same thing for her lovely labrador retrievers, Buford (age 14 and a half!) and Rio (just two and a half!). So the videos are coming, and here is a sneak peek of just a few photos before she gets to see all them all!

This is the old guy, Buford:

An old dog with an old door- I love shooting in historic downtown Pensacola!

Buford’s younger brother, Rio, strikes a pose in the studio! He was such a natural!

Hope this tides you over until Friday, Lori! See you then for your ordering session!
