Emily, the World’s Tiniest Pomeranian! (Photos)

Thursday, March 30th, 2017

Okay, Emily might not be the tiniest Pomeranian in the world. I haven’t done all the necessary research, I admit it. (Although I would like to, haha!) But I think it’s a pretty good guess, since she weighs a whopping 2.5 pounds! Holding this little lady in your arms is like holding a feather… but for everything she lacks in size, she more than makes up for in sweetness. Emily is patient, calm, loving, and simply a dream to work with. I love the way she looks up at her mom… you can practically see the devotion in her eyes. And rightfully so: her mom saved her from a puppy mill. Emily had a rough beginning, that’s for sure – no attention and no love for the first couple years of her life. (I cannot imagine… ugh.) So her mom is making up for lost time, and showering Emily with plenty of care these days! Especially since older age (Emily is 9 now) has come with new health challenges, and her mom doesn’t have much longer with her sweet rescued pup. I’m sad for the short amount of time they have left together… thinking about it puts tears in my eyes… but at the same time, I know Emily & her mom have shared so much joy. So they’ll continue to do what they do best (travel the country, go beading, and love each other) and I have no doubt that it’s the life both of them would have chosen a thousand times over!

That’s Emily the Pomeranian – and yes, she’s wearing a dress! It cover up her hair loss from her recent medical issues quite nicely, and Emily loves her (huge!) collection of dresses to choose from!

Stop it. She’s too cute.

How could you ever say no to those big eyes?!

DeeAnn, it was an honor to meet your sweet girl. Thank you so much for introducing me to her – I’ll be in touch with you again very soon!

Pensacola Dog & Family Photography: Duelli & Sprocket

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

This family actually won a session with me after entering a drawing at Pensacola’s Gallery Night – but that event happened last year, and we haven’t been able to get together until now! I can’t believe we had to wait so long, but let me tell you, this session was worth the wait. Their dogs are Duelli (pronounced “dooli”) the German shepherd, and Sprocket the pomeranian. These boys are super-sweet in their own individual ways: Sprocket loves to get attention (and lap room) from anyone that visits, and he’ll be your best friend if you give him treats & affection! Duelli, on the other hand, is fiercely and beautifully loyal to his mom Krissy; she jokes that “I couldn’t lose him even if I tried!” Together, these boys make the perfect (not to mention photogenic) pair.

Here’s Duelli, with the frisbee that he wanted to include in every. single. photo.

How to Trap a Pomeranian: Sprocket couldn’t wiggle his way out of this photo, since his dad had him trapped!

A pomeranian smiles up at the camera from in between his owner's legs and feet.

They have an old VW bug named Petunia… so OBVIOUSLY we took a few photos with it! How adorable are they??

Beautiful dogs, beautiful family. I love it.

Thanks for a wonderful afternoon session, Krissy & Mark!  (Oh, and a note to future clients: if you invite my husband and I over for dinner after our session, you win MAJOR brownie points. Just sayin. :) )

A Pomeranian Named Molly

Friday, October 19th, 2012

Tap tap… is this thing on? I haven’t posted in weeks! This blog practically has dust on it. Sorry regular blog followers; I’ve been on vacation (and a post about that is definitely coming soon) so I hope you’ve made it all right without your doggy-photo-fix! :)

I am thrilled to introduce Molly, a young pomeranian that’s already living with her third owner. The first two families Molly had didn’t take very good care of her, but the third time is truly the charm for this little cutie! Molly pretty much hit the jackpot with her mom Johanna; the two make a beautiful pair and each one is truly devoted to the other. I just love seeing relationships like this!

We went out into the early morning sunlight in Pensacola for our session. A few uninvited guests (aka other, off-leash dogs) made an appearance but Molly scared them off with her fierceness (oh yes she did) and we had plenty of time to get some beautiful images. Here are just a few!

Molly looking up at her mom = adoration.

We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather! (Although I was probably laying in bird poo as I took this.)

Thanks for a wonderful morning, Johanna and Molly – I can’t wait to see you again soon! :)

Dog Days of Summer 2012 – the First Annual Event!

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

When I was first asked to be on the planning committee for Dog Days of Summer, I had NO IDEA what a huge event and ridiculous amount of fun it would turn out to be! (Plus, all the planning meetings at La Hacienda Mexican restaurant were pretty delicious/wonderful too.) We designed the day to be similar to the Gulf Breeze Pet Fest or Pensacola’s huge Barktoberfest, but with one big difference: all proceeds would benefit the American Cancer Society. Human & canine cancer is so prevalent and any donation we could make would be worth the effort – so after several months of planning, August 18 was the big day! And guess what: the results are in, and we raised over $1000 for the American Cancer Society! YAY!

This post is full of just a few dogs from that day who stopped by to say hello! These photos will also be used to make a 2013 calendar, the proceeds from which will also benefit the American Cancer Society. (If you keep scrolling down, you’ll see some of the funny themes and props we put together for each month!) Stay tuned to the blog and the Facebook page for more info on how to get your copy!

Let’s start with a photo of the head organizer’s dog! This is Rusty, Becky’s boy, and he’s only about a year old – but I photographed him when he was a tiny puppy! It was so much fun to see him “all grown up” and much bigger than I remember!

This pomeranian is appropriately-named Bear.

This is cute little Dixie the basset hound!

Serious contender for cutest puppy at the event: Fiona the shepherd mix. I think she looks a bit like my Bailey! And WHAT a smile!

Rocky is another one of the organizer’s dogs – you really should check out Premier Pet Grooming if you’re in Milton!

Here are two Boston terriers, Odie & Charley. Adorable!

Conway is a chug (chihuahua/pug mix), don’t you love that underbite? And Sonny the lab mix will help us introduce the many props and costumes for each month…

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Ha!

Stiff competition to win the month of May is Bitsy the chihuahua, and at 17 years old this little trooper is also one of my past clients!

For October/Halloween we have Dozer the Therapy Dog, who has a super-busy Facebook page! He’s pretty famous!

Bear is Becky’s grand-dog, and he let us wrap him up in red tulle for December/Christmas! Look at that sweet face. That’s a rottweiler stocking to the right of him.

Whew, there are a TON of photos in this post! But if you can’t get enough, check out the full day’s gallery here: http://proofs.allisonshamrell.com. More importantly, a HUGE thank-you goes out to everyone that came on the 18th, whether it was for several hours or just a short time! We really appreciate your support, and 100% of your donation went to the American Cancer Society! Thank you so much – and be on the lookout for more info about next year’s event!

Gulf Breeze Pet Fest ~ {Gulf Breeze Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

Yesterday (Saturday) was the 2011 Gulf Breeze Pet Fest! It was a lot of fun – until Mother Nature decided she didn’t like the idea of peaceful weather. So up until that moment (when three 10×10′ tents went flying, and my portraits came crashing down from their display stands) everyone was having a great time! Check out some of the adorable dogs I got to meet before having to pack up my booth…

This sweetheart wanted to snuggle up next to her Dad the whole time!

Rayne was a wonderful familiar face to see!

Bailey was the only one in her family who felt like saying hello to me…

But doesn’t her sibling Jace have the most beautiful coloring?

Tally the lab – I love her eyes!

I also adore this pomeranian’s coloring.

This is Treu, the smallest pit bull I’ve ever seen! Definitely a sweetheart, and tennis ball-obsessed!

Haha – I’m pretty sure this is Treu’s “look how good I am beeeeiiiinnnggggg” face!

Some visitors decided they needed to see my work up close…

Aaaand we have the winner for cutest pup of the day!

Honestly? I would like to steal him.

Gumbo the Maltese is a close runner-up, though. Wrapped up against mom’s chest was the warmest place to be that day!

This is Sydney, the windswept Australian Terrier!

Some dogs were there to PLAY! This is Buster, the shorthaired pointer.

Such sweet eyes.

And since the last session giveaway I did was so fabulous, I decided to hold another drawing for a free session.

This is the winner! Meet Amore the Maltese, and you’ll be seeing more of this adorable pup soon!

I’ll leave you with one more of this little dude. Have a great week!
