A Golden Retriever with his Family: Bachi

Monday, May 20th, 2013

Even though I’m leaving town incredibly soon, I’m still meeting local dogs! Yes, I should probably be packing and beginning to look for a new house in San Diego… but here I am with a camera on my neck! And I am so glad – otherwise I wouldn’t have met Bachi! He’s Beckham‘s friend from Niceville, and for our session we visited a gorgeous dock on the water and Bachi’s favorite neighborhood park. His human siblings were willing to jump in a bunch of the photos, too, which I love – check it out!

We couldn’t have had a more beautiful day! Thanks for cooperating with my tight schedule, weather gods!

Bachi & his sister Gina are especially close; I love so many of the photos of them together!

Bachi, I know I tuckered you out during our session… I promise I won’t make you “work” so hard when I come over again this week! :)

Thanks Rosie, Gina & Scott, for an absolutely delightful time! Can’t wait to see you all again soon!

Goldendoodle Photography: Luke & Leo

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

I’m going to start this blog post by showing a photo of these two goofy goldendoodles, Luke & Leo, that illustrates their crazy fun personalities and will (hopefully) help you love them as much as I fell in love with them during our session. Ready?

Haha! :)

Now that their introduction is out of the way, let me tell you a bit about these two goofballs. Luke is the dog on the left below; he’s an adventure-seeker and the more outgoing of the two dogs. Sometimes, I almost got the feeling that he was “in charge” of Leo, the way he would shove tennis balls in Leo’s face, almost demanding that he play with him RIGHT NOW! Leo, on the other hand, is much happier to relax after a quick playtime. He’s a daddy’s boy (so I’m told!), and a little bit more in-tune with what his human family wants him to do. Together, they make an awesome, fun-loving pair and they constantly had me laughing!

Their family is truly the center of their world… and they love it!

One more photo, just because it made me smile:

What a fun session. How can you not love goldendoodles? I can’t wait to see these boys again soon! :)

Niceville Pet Photography: Memphis, Gracie & Chloe

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

You know how this summer was pretty rainy? Like, rainier than most summers? Yeah, I do too, and so does Meredith. She’s Memphis, Gracie & Chloe’s mom, and we’ve been planning this session since JUNE! The absolutely ridiculous weather forced us to keep rescheduling until now, so first of all, Meredith should be commended for having the patience of a saint. But I already knew she’d be patient – she’s a first grade teacher! I was so excited to finally meet Meredith and her dogs in person; I felt like we were friends already from all the times we’d communicated back and forth! And our session was SO much fun with her three fur-babies; let me introduce you!

This is Chloe, a five-year-old pug. She loooooved being the center of attention! (what a cutie, right?)

A pug sits at a woman's feet on a dock.

Oh, Chloe’s face. Don’t you just want to give her everything she could ever want? Sigh. On the right is Memphis, a ten-year-old pug. I love that crazy running look that pugs get! I posted another (slightly calmer) photo of him to the Facebook page on Saturday.

A pug looks up at the camera and one runs through green grass.

Memphis’ little paws…

And here’s big sis Gracie! She’s a boxer mix (I’m guessing with some pit bull, too) and she’s also five years old.

Dogs on a dock and looking out a car window.

Two pugs sit on a concrete bench, with water in the background.

Gracie has a bit of trust issues, so I saw both of these faces pretty often throughout the session… ha!

Gracie can MOVE!

That’s it for now… probably one of the biggest Sneak Peeks I’ve ever posted, since I’m going on out of town for a bit. Meredith, thank you again for being so wonderful to work with – and please say hi to the pups for me! I’ve got SO many more photos to show you (remember Chloe on the blue+green comforter?) so remember to watch the Facebook page for updates! :)

Premium Album Sample: Beckham the Labrador

Monday, September 10th, 2012

Another premium album came in, and I actually had enough time to photograph it before delivering it to my client! She was super-patient in waiting for it, since premium albums take a bare minimum of two weeks for the printing & binding process, plus the shipping time, plus the time I need to do a thorough quality check… so I was thrilled to finally hand this off to its rightful owner! It features Beckham the labrador, a super-sweet big ball of happy.

Beckham’s mom opted for the photo cover album. Here’s the box this album came in:

The cover is incredibly smooth and slightly soft to the touch. I love it!

Vellum paper aside, you can see Beckham’s handsome face!

One of the most colorful spreads in the book; I love this one!

A professionally-design album page spread of a happy labrador.

This spread contains a wonderful, wonderful quote. It says:

“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”    – Unknown

Zoomed out so you can see the whole spread:

 Thick pages!

That’s it for now… thanks for reading & have a great Monday!

Relaxing in the Front Yard: Beckham the Labrador

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

Beckham is not your typical labrador. He’s happier laying down than running around, and he’s built more like a bear than a dog! Beckham is a gorgeous, goofy 7-year-old lab who was so much fun to photograph! We stayed in his front yard for most of our session because that’s where he loves to be, and he was more than happy to lay around and let us feed him treats.

He lives a pretty great life, but unfortunately, he’s always been plagued by health problems. Recently, his parents found out that he has a tumor in his heart. I can’t imagine what they’re going through. It’s just not fair for a dog that’s so sweet and has so much love to give… but we didn’t focus on the negatives today. We had a wonderful time and Beckham kept us laughing throughout the session. Thanks for a great morning, big guy!

The yard is his domain… I don’t know what would happen if he didn’t keep watch over it.

He actually ran for us! This boy has get-up and GO! (I was only slightly scared for my life when I saw him barreling towards me)

… bear-like paws, wet with the morning dew…

We finished up by taking a bath. In the sunlight.

Karin & Mick, it was an honor to meet you & Beckham. I hope you had as much fun as I did today! Thanks again, and I’ll see you soon!
